When you first arrive you will be greeted by local artist Carly Thomas’ wall mural. From here you will enter through the driveway side door, make your way up the steps and enter Apartment D. Southern Shangri-La on Coming St might be located in Charleston, but feels like a paradise a world away. From the jungly wall mural to the Balinese furniture, it'll be your own little getaway in the heart of downtown Charleston. Southern Shangri-La design is inspired by personal travels, love for plants, the beach and support for local artists. Apartment D is a top floor apartment which offers an abundance of natural light and a cozy 700 sqft footprint, perfect for a 4 person group. This 2 bedroom 1 bath is situated on Coming Street near great restaurants, coffee shops/bakeries and the night scene. Our location is ideal if you plan to park your car for the weekend and hit the city on foot (or bike)! This is 1 of 4 apartments in the building. We airbnb all of them so you might see other guests in passing so be friendly and say hello. We live a block away and are always tending to the plants, playing with the decor, or walking our dogs around the block so you might see us bopping around as well.
Guests will have exclusive access to the entire unit D on the second floor of the shared building. Easily accessible and well lit for your safety. You can pull one car off the street and into a driveway/parking lot, which makes packing and unpacking a breeze.

This house is perfect for a family or group seeking a fun, culinary, and cultural vacation. Popular dining spots in the neighborhood include The Tippling House Wine Bar,The Ordinary, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Fuel, Bistronomy, Barsa, R Kitchen, Chubby Fish, Pink Cactus, Chasing Sage, Elliotborough Minibar and the Warehouse for drinks. Things to know about us. Will and I were both born and raised in Charleston, SC. Will graduated from VMI and I graduated from SMU. More importantly, we love to surf and travel. After graduating college we moved to Australia and worked for a year. During that year we surfed a lot, converted our VW into a camper van and traveled Australia. Upon expiration of our visas we sold our van and used the money to travel through Indonesia where we surfed some of the best waves we’ve ever experienced. These travel experiences are what inspired us to also own an Airbnb and help people to enjoy their stays to the fullest potential. We formed some of the best relationships staying in Airbnb’s and meeting people from all over the world. We now live full time in Charleston and get away when possible. We primarily work in real estate, so if you have any questions or interests in the area we can offer our help.

This was a great spot! Good location, cozy bedrooms with comfy beds, black out curtains and white noise sound machines. The boho decor was cute. Location and parking was very convenient. Short walk downtown and 20 minutes to the beach. Stayed here with my mom and sister and we had a great time! Plenty of extra blankets, towels, etc, and a well stocked kitchen. Bathroom area is pretty small but I appreciated that there were mirrors in the bedrooms where you could get ready. My mom, sister, and I had a great time and comfortable stay.
The location was great for exploring the city. We took our bikes and rode miles around town. Highly recommend doing this because there is a lot of walking around the city. We ate at Hyman's Seafood, Miller's All Day, Toast All Day, and Big Bad Breakfast. The home was cute and quaint. Parking is really tight and only has one parking spot available. Large vehicles may have trouble getting in and out but there is a parking garage about 3/4 a mile away. We were very happy with our stay!
This was the perfect house! There were three of us and we had plenty of room. IDEAL location - so close to King Street. We walked everywhere. Highly recommend for anyone traveling to Charleston! Would absolutely stay there again.
This is a great location to experience downtown Charleston. On-site parking was great and felt secure. You’re about 2 blocks from King Street and have easy walking distance to most things. There’s plenty of bike taxis, rentable bikes, and Ubers in the area if you don’t feel like driving to further attractions. Folly Beach is about a 10-15 minute drive as well. The AirBnB is very clean and comfortable and has a great atmosphere. Would definitely book again.
