Southern Shangri-La on Coming is located in downtown Charleston, but it feels like paradise a world away. From the jungly wall mural and lush landscape to the Balinese furniture, it'll be your own getaway in the heart of the city. Our goal is for you to enjoy our version of Shangri-La a place inspired by personal travels, our love for plants and surf, and support for local artists. You will find this light blue building located on the left side of Coming Street. When you first arrive you will be greeted by our oyster shell driveway, lush landscape and local artist Carly Thomas’ wall mural. This apartment does not come with parking offstreet. However, if you need parking please check out our other units. Apt A, which is 1 of 4 apartments in the building, will be at the bottom of the stairs on your left. Each door has individual keypad entries, and codes will be provided upon arrival. A bottom floor apartment which offers natural light and a cozy 700 sqft footprint, Apt B is perfect for a 4 person group. This apartment provides a spacious living area, a newly updated kitchen, smart television with youtube TV, and wireless internet, in hopes to make your stay feel like a home away from home. The apartment is located in the Elliotborough/Cannonborough neighborhood known as the "Short term rental district." You find that we are surrounded by great restaurants, coffee shops/bakeries and all the night life. With everything so close, it's a great spot if you'd like to explore the streets and neighborhoods of Charleston by foot or bike. As this is 1 of 4 apartments, there is a high chance that there will be other guest staying during your vacation. Please be respectful of your neighbor and say hello. Southern Shangri-La welcomes all walks of life! Being on the bottom floor you can hear some foot traffic from the apartment above. We have taken this into account in our pricing but you can also check out our other upstairs apartments! Lastly, nothing is worse than accommodation that is not accommodating. This house is perfect for a family or group seeking a fun, culinary, and cultural vacation. Popular dining spots in the neighborhood include The Tippling House Wine Bar,The Ordinary, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Fuel, Bistronomy, Barsa, R Kitchen, Chubby Fish, Pink Cactus, Chasing Sage, Elliotborough Minibar and the Warehouse for drinks. Things to know about us. Will and I were both born and raised in Charleston, SC. Will graduated from VMI and I graduated from SMU. More importantly, we love to surf and travel. After graduating college we moved to Australia and worked for a year. During that year we surfed a lot, converted our VW into a camper van and traveled Australia. Upon expiration of our visas we sold our van and used the money to travel through Indonesia where we surfed some of the best waves we’ve ever experienced. These travel experiences are what inspired us to also own an Airbnb and help people to enjoy their stays to the fullest potential. We formed some of the best relationships staying in Airbnb’s and meeting people from all over the world. We now live full time in Charleston and get away when possible. We primarily work in real estate, so if you have any questions or interests in the area we can offer our help.

Sydney and the concierge team were superb and prompt in resolving issues and answering our requests/questions. The location is very convenient, within walking distance to all places that we wanted to visit: the King st. and the Rainbow Row. The apt was colorfully decorated as named. It is very quiet at night even with proximity to the Charleston college. Even though parking is not on site, it is, however, right around the corner. Our request of extending the checkout time by 1 hour was promptly approved. The only issue that we encountered was the drain bugs since there was a heavy rain on our arrival date but Sydney promptly sent someone to take care of it (there were still some bugs flying around).
