The Neighborhood

Welcome to the Eastside! The house is located in the quiet neighborhood of Eastside, away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. You’re still within walking distance of Charleston’s main attractions but you’ll be able to return to a peaceful neighborhood at the end of the day. It’s an up-and-coming part of town that has new restaurants and bars popping up on every corner! Some of the local eateries will be Mercantile & Mash, Rappahannock Oyster Bar and Taco Boy! Just a 15-minute walk from the house is upper King Street where you’ll find plenty of exciting bars, gourmet restaurants, and unique shops to visit. This popular area is a great place to start your adventure.

The cottage was adorable and had everything we needed for the little amount of time we spent there. It was perfect for two people. It was easy to find, close to the airport and the train station. The city bus system said there was a stop right at the corner where the cottage is located but we never saw one come through, although there was a lot of construction going on which may have had an impact on public transit. The immediate vicinity felt safe enough during the day, however we did have a few feelings of unease walking back one night, and a few uber drivers did tell us it was not a particularly safe area to walk through at night. I loved that they gave us lots of big fluffy towels, and the opportunity to use their spa services. The hosts were quick to answer our questions and very helpful.

Really great spot in a not super touristy neighborhood which we really valued, but still a 15-20 minute walk from so many popular Charleston highlights. Loft bed was super comfy but it’s definitely a climb, just be prepared! Nice kitchen, lovely little living room and appreciated the throw blankets. All in all would def recommend and would rent here again if we come back to town!

The house was as pictured. It is a little tight for two people sleeping in both the bed and the pullout (vs sharing a bed) but we expected that. Very walkable in an up-and-coming area. As two women, we always felt safe even when walking home late at night. We had a great trip. Thanks!
